The Stephen Leacock Foundation for Children is dedicated to helping disadvantaged youth.

We believe that young people without hope pose a risk to themselves, and to society. Our mission is to help young people believe in themselves and their future, and make a positive contribution to our world.

For most children, school is their very first experience and exposure to outside society and how they are valued. In some cases, they learn far too early how our society marginalizes the disadvantaged by depriving them of the tools they need to embrace and achieve success. Governments are only able to fund so much, and while the broader issue of public education can and should be addressed by governments, this does not disguise the fact that budget shortfalls exist within the system. Whether it is South Africa or Canada, larger issues loom and while time and money is spent researching better solutions for public education, children are falling through the cracks.

Our goal is to level the playing fields among privileged and inner city students- at home and in South Africa. This goal is achieved through the "Triangle of Hope" the Foundation's signature program, which provides financial support for curriculum and school community enrichment programs for vulnerable, school-aged children in Canada and South Africa.
